||Great and Small, located in Boyds, Maryland, about 30 miles from Washington DC, is seeking an Executive Director. This is a full-time salaried position reporting to an engaged Board of Directors. The Executive Director will be responsible for the overall management, development, and fundraising activities of Great and Small.
The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills as well as a working knowledge of non-profit governance, accounting practices, fundraising, and a passion for Great and Small’s mission to serve the special needs community. The candidate must be able to motivate and lead teams, build relationships in the community, communicate effectively, and work with minimal supervision. PATH certification and/or equine experience is not required but is a plus. Specific responsibilities may include:
– Board recruitment and coordination
– Staff management and development
– Donor cultivation for individual and corporate giving
– Grant writing
– Budget development and management
– Event planning and coordination
– External communications (website, social media, etc.)
– Development of community connections
– Program oversight
– Farm management oversight
The Mission of Great and Small
Great and Small is a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center that provides equine-assisted activities and therapies to children and adults of all ages affected by a range of physical, developmental, emotional, and learning disabilities. Through a supportive and therapeutic engagement with horses, Great and Small strengthens and empowers its participants, helping them develop their full potential.
The Center is located on a 100 acre property and has an indoor arena for year-round operations. Currently 14 staff, over 60 volunteers, and ten therapy horses come together to provide services to 55 participants each week.
