Glenn (Chip) Dahlke – Endowed Memorial Scholarship

Northstar Wealth Partners and High Hopes Therapeutic Riding, Inc. announce the Glenn (Chip) Dahlke – Endowed Memorial Scholarship

“He was a true original, a devoted father and friend, who loved to share his home and land.”

Lyme, CT – October 16, 2019, Northstar Wealth Partners, LLC, and High Hopes Therapeutic Riding, Inc. have announced the formation of the Glenn (Chip) Dahlke Endowed Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Chip had been in the investment business for over 40 years, most recently with Northstar Wealth Partners, with offices in Old Saybrook, West Hartford, and Shelton. Chip was also one of the driving forces behind the creation of High Hopes’ Holiday Market, now entering its 9th year.

Northstar Wealth Partners was delighted to choose High Hopes as a vehicle for honoring the memory of our colleague,” said Theresa Donatelli, Partner and Wealth Advisor at Northstar.

“Chip was a vibrant force within our community, and his vision and forthrightness led to the creation of one of High Hopes’ most successful outreach and friend-raising events, our annual Holiday Market and Raffle,” explained Development Director, Sara Qua. “In turn, Northstar Wealth Partners has been a critical partner of High Hopes – as joint Event Sponsor of High Hopes’ June benefit for the past six years. That support has helped the gala grow into one of the Shoreline’s most popular events and, more importantly, High Hopes’ largest fundraiser,” she said. “This announcement enables three forces –  the legacy of Chip Dahlke, High Hopes, and Northstar Wealth Partners – to come together in a highly impactful way for our participants.”

Endowed scholarships enable individuals living with physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities to benefit from equine-assisted activities and therapies. Many families face additional living costs related to their loved one’s disability, but scholarships, and particularly endowed awards mean that an individual’s financial circumstances are not a barrier to the incredible therapeutic benefits of horsemanship.

The endowment vehicle protects donations to the fund in perpetuity; withdrawals are only taken from a percentage of the annual interest earned. This yearly, allowable spend-down of earned interest provides financial aid to a High Hopes’ participant in Chip’s name, while also helping to protect High Hopes’ economic sustainability – something Chip would have undoubtedly approved of.

We hope that you will now join us in strengthening this Endowed Scholarship with a donation in Chip’s memory. There can be no better way of combining Chip’s professional expertise with his altruistic passion for farming, family, and the mentorship of youth in our community.
