Sally H. Aubrey honored with Lytt Gould Award

Sally H. Aubrey, 92, of Lyme, CT was today awarded the Lytt Gould Leadership Award by the Board of Trustees of High Hopes Therapeutic Riding, Inc.
During a beautiful, June afternoon in the High Hopes Legacy Garden, friends, members of the Legacy Society, staff and Sally-admirers joined with Board Chair, John Catlett, Executive Director, Kitty Stalsburg, and Development Director Sara Slayton Qua as they surprised Sally with the Award.
Named for the husband of High Hopes’ founder Sis Gould, the Lytt Gould Leadership Award recognizes those who have demonstrated leadership, vision, and commitment to the sustainability and future growth of High Hopes. Through their words and deeds, they have placed High Hopes at the forefront of philanthropic organizations.
An avid horsewoman and naturalist, Sally was awarded the 1998 North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) National Volunteer of the Year Award. This award recognized not only her association with High Hopes from its inception in 1974, but also her life-long passion for therapeutic riding and mentoring of young riders through the Pony Club, along with her pony Splash. Even today, as she approaches her 93 birthday, it is clear that High Hopes’ mission remains an intrinsic part of Sally’s life as she continues to volunteer on the front desk and, in her understated but quietly influential way, ensures that on a daily basis High Hopes lives up to its mission and maintains the highest possible quality of service.
