From a small arena with ponies to an incredible organization, High Hopes Therapeutic Riding has come a long way in 50 years.
Founded by Sis Gould, a visionary in therapeutic riding, it started in 1974 with eight students and borrowed resources. Now, with its own facility, barns, horses, instructors, and hundreds of volunteers, High Hopes continues to make a difference in the community.
Sis, a humble leader, believed in the magic of group effort. Her legacy lives on as we celebrate five decades of providing a caring, supportive environment for individuals to learn, grow, and heal through the horse/human bond. 🐴💙

In our 50th anniversary year, we are proud to announce the High Hopes planned giving society will be renamed to the Sis and Lytt Gould Society.
In 1974, Sis Gould founded the Lower Connecticut Valley Educational Riding Association (now known as High Hopes Therapeutic Riding). Working closely with horses over much of her life, Sis understood their potential for human healing and growth. Her husband Lytt was always at her side, championing her vision.
Like Sis and Lytt Gould's vision, planned giving ensures the vibrant future of High Hopes for generations to come. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your giving options. Please contact, Claire Gadrow, Chief Philanthropy Officer, cgadrow@highopestr.org or visit our new planned giving website by clicking on the link on our bio.
Will you help? A key element to our 50th Anniversary Gala's success is the auction.
Do you have cabin in the mountains or a vacation home somewhere tropical? Airline miles you’d be willing to part with? A motor or sailboat you’d be willing to give an experiential outing on? Tickets to a popular sports team or a round of golf at a local Club? Are you a great cook and would be willing to donate your time?
These are just a few examples of high-quality items we would love to include in the auction. Please contact Trudy Burgess, Events Manager, at tburgess@highhopes.tr.org or (860)434-1974 ext. 123 to discuss.
