Equine selection and training are central to the success of our therapeutic horsemanship programs. Join our staff in a conversation about finding the right equine for your program’s needs, training them for their unique roles and maintaining their well-being to ensure longevity in your herd.

Day 2 Course Topics will include:
- Recruiting and selecting the right horses for your program
- Planning a trial period
- Tailored training systems to create willing partners
- Stress control: management techniques for happy horses
- Life beyond the TR Center
If you choose to do Day 1, topics will include:
- Strategies for developing, implementing, and maintaining health care systems for therapy horses that form the basis for creating willing partners and that exceed PATH standards. These include: hoof care, dentistry, parasite management, biosecurity and infectious disease prevention tactics.
- Keeping your herd of therapy horses healthy and sound.
- Farm and herd management techniques to make the most of your budget and maximize your volunteer resource.
- Saddle fit, vital signs measurement and conformation evaluations with our herd of therapy horses.
Price Options:
This lecture can be taken in three different ways:
- A stand-alone lecture for continuing education purposes.
- As part of the 2-day Therapy Horse Module. (see below)
- As part of the High Hopes Instructor Education Course–a component of the Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor education process.
