What prompted your interest in Therapeutic Horsemanship?
I began volunteering at High Hopes when I was 12 years old (with my mom) and fell in love with learning how horses can help people. I continued volunteering at High Hopes throughout middle school, high school, and subbed in college. While in college, I came back to High Hopes for my summer internship where I helped with the Camp Harkness satellite program. After graduating college I took a hands on job working in various barns in CT, NY, and NJ. From working with those horses I was missing the horse/human connection. Not long after, I was drawn back to High Hopes to obtain my certification. Throughout my years working in the TR industry, it just solidified all the reasons why I wanted to enter this field when I was younger.
Where did you work before High Hopes?

Please describe two or three (max. five) different things you love about High Hopes.
I have been enjoying building connections with other professionals including TR instructors, OT’s, PT’s, and mental health professionals.
I love seeing the strength in our participants and their families. Participants come to High Hopes for an hour a week and there is so much more to learn about them. I love sitting with their families and learning their backstories since they are all so different.
High Hopes fosters professional development for all their staff. It allows us to constantly improve our skills so we can provide the highest quality experience to our participants and volunteers.
