What prompted your interest in Therapeutic Horsemanship?
Watching my children grow up riding horses I could see how much they benefited from their relationship with their horses. They would come home tired, dirty, with big smiles and a sense of accomplishment. The barn was their second home. I love the smell of the barn when I come to work each morning!
Where did you work before High Hopes?
My first career was in the non-profit world as a land protection specialist for The Nature Conservancy and as the Director of the Land Trust Service Bureau. I loved being on the land and getting to know so many families and the bond they had to their land. It was a pleasure to help preserve the natural bounty in the lower Connecticut River valley. My second career owning and managing a manufacturing company in the Environmental and Geo-technical industry gave me a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of running a small business. I bring these skills and experience to my work at High Hopes every day. I’m proud to be a part of this special place.
Please describe two or three (max. five) different things you love about High Hopes.
I love the smiles on our participants’ faces when they are with the horses. Starting every morning looking out over the farm and pastures.
