We are very sorry to announce that yesterday after a short but very severe bout of colic we lost our dear friend Hummer.

Hummer has been with us since 2010 and his big heart and quiet demeanor made him the perfect horse to introduce so many people to riding and a life-long love of horses. His quiet nature hid a wonderful curiosity and we were often struck by how fascinated he was watching our driving horses pull their carriages. Being a Percheron cross, we called him the “gentle giant” and his huge presence will be missed by all who came into contact with him.

We all know how unexpected and fast this condition can occur and we are grateful that his last few hours were spent in the very experienced, capable and loving hands of our staff, who were able to make his passing as easy as possible for him. If you would like to bring a photograph or a message for Hummer’s stall, please drop by.

Godspeed Hummer, we know that there is a beautiful paddock of Spring grass waiting for you on the other side of the bridge.
