Event Volunteer Award: Jim Lewis & Kim Kaiser
We’re excited to recognize Jim Lewis and Kim Kaiser as this year’s recipients of the Event Volunteer Award! Longtime supporters of High Hopes, Jim and Kim have been essential to the success of our largest annual fundraiser—bringing with them the tools, tractor, and teamwork needed to transform our arena into a spectacular event space. From laying carpet to perfecting the table grid, their patience, precision, and good humor make a big impact year after year.
Beyond the heavy lifting, they’re also the behind-the-scenes heroes—making last-minute supply runs, reminding us of the unglamorous but critical details, and keeping the whole team grounded with their calm presence and can-do spirit. Their steady support and thoughtful questions (“What’s next, Trudy?”) help ensure no detail slips through the cracks.
Jim and Kim truly embody the heart of the High Hopes volunteer spirit: dependable, kind, and full of laughter. We’re incredibly grateful for the time, energy, and joy they bring to our events—and for making even the toughest jobs feel a little lighter and a lot more fun.
Lytt Gould Leadership Award: The Kitchings Family
On June 14th, we celebrated a legacy of generosity. Trustees and guests visited the campus to honor loved ones and support High Hopes in their name. This year, we recognized the Kitchings Family with the Lytt Gould Leadership Award. Thank you to Sarah Kitchings Keenan, Chet and Suzanne Kitchings, and Ken and Christine Kitchings for your generosity, support of our mission, and commitment to High Hopes.
The Sally Aubrey Award: Todd Machnick
The Sally Aubrey award is High Hopes’ most prestigious award, given to someone who exemplifies the true spirit of High Hopes through commitment, dedication, and compassion. We are proud to announce the 2025 recipient – Todd Machnik.
Todd could not be more deserving. His years of dedicated service, especially as Chair of the Building and Grounds Committee, have left a lasting legacy at High Hopes. His steady leadership, deep care for our campus and herd, and commitment to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment have made an immeasurable impact. Most profoundly, when High Hopes horses are in need of their final resting place, it is Todd who arrives on a moment’s notice. His deep respect for the circle of life and the quiet reverence he brings to those moments speak volumes about who he is.
Todd embodies the thoughtful, behind-the-scenes stewardship that the Sally Aubrey Award was created to honor. Congratulations Todd!
