Prospective Volunteers
Weekly Volunteer Roles Include:
π Office Volunteer / Front Desk β The Friendly Face of High Hopes
Be the welcoming smile that greets every visitor! Help answer phones, take messages, greet participants, and pitch in on light admin tasks like data entry, envelope stuffing, and fun projects (yes, even seasonal barn decorating!).
π No experience needed β just good vibes!
π΄ Sidewalker β The Riderβs Cheerleader & Guide
Walk alongside our incredible participants on horseback, offering encouragement, support, and a steady presence as they work toward their goals. Youβll help make each session safe, fun, and help build confidence in the saddle!
πΆ Must be able to walk (and occasionally jog) for about an hour.
π Experience with individuals with disabilities is a plus but not required
π Horse Handler β The Horseβs Side-Kick
Lead and care for one of our amazing horses during lessons, ensuring their comfort, focus, and safety.
π Must be able to walk and jog intermittently for a half-hour
π΄ Recent horse experience required β leading, owning, leasing, or lessoning. Grooming and tacking experience? Even better!
** Minimum age of 16
πΎ Feeder β Breakfast CrewΒ
Start the day right by helping prepare and deliver meals to our horses β rain or shine, 365 days a year. The horses will love you for it!
πͺ Must be able to lift ~50 lb. hay bales.
β° Available 8β10 AM, one morning a week, year-round.

π§Ή Barn Volunteer β Keeper of the Barn
Roll up your sleeves and help keep the barn in tip-top shape! From cleaning stalls and sweeping to setting up tack and scrubbing buckets, youβll help create a happy, healthy home for our horses.
β¨ No experience needed β just a can-do attitude!
π ELP Coach β Teach, Guide, Inspire
Share your horse knowledge and passion! As an Equine Learning Program (ELP) Coach, youβll guide participants through hands-on, unmounted lessons, teaching them the joys and responsibilities of horsemanship.
π΄ Must have solid horse experience and/or experience working with individuals with disabilities.
π§ Facility Volunteer β Fixer, Builder, Problem-Solver
Love working with your hands? Help with property maintenance, repairs, and equipment care to keep our beautiful campus running smoothly.
π΄ Facility volunteers often help clean or maintain our horse’s paddocks – no experience required!
π Development Volunteer β The Fundraising Force
Support our development team with fundraising efforts, grant writing, donor outreach, and more β helping secure the resources that keep High Hopes thriving.
π All volunteers are trained and supported by the High Hopes staff β weβre here to help you shine!
Intermittent or One-Time Volunteer Roles Include:
- Assistance with yearly special events such as Gala and Horse Show Days.
- Outreach β become a High Hopes ambassador to your community.
With almost 50 years of service to our participants and the community, High Hopes continues to strive to provide relevant and fulfilling experiences to our volunteers as well.
