Mary Lavin

« All Events

Mary originates from Ohio and has served as the Grant Writer for High Hopes since July 2023.  In October 2026, she accepted the role of Major Gifts and Institutional Giving to help secure foundation and individual funding that strengthens programs and expands High Hopes’ impact through partnership and generosity.

Mary graduated from John Carroll University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and earned her Master of Science in Social Administration (MSSA) from Case Western Reserve University.  With more than 20 years of experience as a development professional in higher education and both regional and nonprofit organizations, Mary now combines her skills and experience, including more than five years as a therapeutic riding volunteer, with her passion for the profound healing and therapeutic benefits of the horse-human bond.

Mary has a proven track record of building meaningful relationships and strategic alliances that generate new revenue streams and foster long-term donor engagement, and is a member of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH, Intl.), the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), National Association of Non-Profit Organizations and Executives (NANOE), and the Grant Professionals Association (GPA).

Outside of work, Mary enjoys time with family and friends, time at the beach, and exploring the small towns of Connecticut.  Mary is an avid dog lover, animal rescue volunteer, and will also be volunteering at High Hopes.
