Carissa began at High Hopes as a volunteer in 2021 and immediately fell in love with the program’s ideals and methods of horses helping humans (and humans helping horses)! She completed High Hopes’ Instructor-in-Training course and is currently pursuing her Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor certification through PATH, International. Carissa previously taught a variety of riders at a barn in East Greenwich, RI, and rode competitively during college.
Outside of High Hopes, Carissa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Rhode Island and has dedicated her career to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals and their families who are impacted by varying needs and life circumstances. She has extensive experience in a variety of settings working with people with disabilities and mental health needs.
When she’s not at High Hopes, Carissa lives an active life working at another barn in Massachusetts, camping, skiing, and enjoying time with her cats, family, and friends.
