Diane is a fantastic sidewalker and leader at High Hopes. She is a great help with riders who are working on becoming independent as well as our youngest riders who need some encouragement.
“I have been volunteering at High Hopes for about ten years so it is hard to pick just one favorite memory! I love being able to be outside with the kids and ride on the trails. Hearing their excitement and laughter as we go through the noodles, play games or head to Critter Rock is the best. During one class, we were riding in the field and actually “herded” all the geese into the pond. The riders thought that was hysterical!
I always call High Hopes my happy place. The staff and instructors are always so grateful for the help. It is such a joy watching the riders advance with their riding or communication skills, and being a part of that. And the horses, of course, are my favorite beings on earth! They are all so sweet and gentle with the riders and are so well cared for. I honestly feel like I get a lot more from the volunteer experience than I give. I love being part of a team that is so passionate and supportive and completely committed to helping the riders. I have met so many incredible people.”
