Missy has a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Management, specializing in Commercial and Community Recreation from Pennsylvania State University. Her journey as a volunteer begin at the University, kindling her passion for working with nonprofits.
With over a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector, including a previous role as an Executive Director, Missy has worn various hats, from program development and community outreach to fundraising and strategic planning. Her commitment to the nonprofit world deepened when she obtained a Certificate in Non-Profit Strategies from Harvard Business School in 2019, equipping her with essential skills to navigate the ever-evolving challenges of today’s nonprofit landscape.
Missy’s profound love for horses traces back to her early riding days at the age of 8. She is a certified therapeutic riding instructor with the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH Intl.), and her dedication doesn’t stop there. She currently serves on the PATH Intl. Governance Committee, has taken on leadership roles as a State Chair and Region Representative for PATH Intl., and contributes her expertise as an Advisory Board member for Hestovin Stables Therapeutic Riding Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is also a co-founder of Empowerment Farm in Naples, Florida, a nonprofit organization that empowers individuals through farm-based activities involving animals, plants, and community interaction.
With her wealth of experience, passion for equine therapy, and her drive to execute nonprofit strategies effectively, Missy is set to make a significant impact as the new Operations Director at High Hopes Therapeutic Riding Center.
